StruxC-MC was hired to construct a foundry addition for the plant's new 250,000-pound furnace. The logistics of supporting and moving this large furnace in place dictated the construction sequencing, which included partial construction of foundations and building frame, installation of the melting furnace and completion of the building around the furnace. Tolerance for the furnace pad setting plate bolts were +/- 3MM, and the corner column of the building frame was left out until the furnace was in place.
Once the furnace was in place, StruxC-MC started on the erection of the new building enclosure that tied into existing foundry structure, consisting of CMU walls, metal wall panels, and roofing system and the demolition of existing barrier wall following enclosure construction.
Lastly, StruxC-MC constructed a Trench and Conveyor connecting the furnace to ensure an easy process after the heat is within specification so the metal can be poured into molds, allowed to cool, and stacked on pallets for shipment.
