StruxC-MC completed an exterior rehabilitation project for Glenbard Township High School District 87. The project began with the careful removal of the existing parapet stone coping, which was stored for reuse to maintain the building’s historical fabric followed by the demolition of the deteriorating parapet’s brick veneer. To prepare the wall for the necessary structural repairs, a skim coat was applied to the existing backup wall surface, which allowed for the installation of a new fluid-applied waterproofing membrane.
In addition, we integrated new galvanized steel and a state-of-the-art flashing system. After this, the face brick veneer was rebuilt, and the original stone coping was carefully reinstalled. The cornice and coping stones were thoroughly cleaned, with all joints resealed using backer rods and sealant to ensure durability and protection against the elements.
As part of the roofing work, a new roof membrane and flashing were installed, providing enhanced weatherproofing. The masonry piers and walls were ground and tuck-pointed to restore their structural integrity ensuring the building’s longevity against moisture migration.
The rehabilitation extended to the interior, where damaged plaster was patched, and the walls were scraped, primed, and painted. This comprehensive rehabilitation project aimed to improve the exterior of the facility, ensuring long-lasting protection against weather and water infiltration.
